Every Newborn Reach Up Early Education Intervention For All Children (EN-Reach) Parenting Education for School Readiness

Introduction:

The EN-Reach (Parenting Education for School Readiness) project in Nepal aims to improve children’s learning and developmental capacities of all children with a specific focus on creating a readiness package for parenting education that is inclusive of developmental delays and disabilities. The initiative, implemented by trained parents and teacher facilitators in five districts within Gandaki Province of Nepal includes eight sessions biweekly, focusing on play’s role in nurturing friendships, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities. Sessions was started from June 3 and completed on October 6, 2023. The project aims to not only enhanced children’s educational experiences but also foster essential social and cognitive skills crucial for their overall development.

Session 1: “Let’s Get to Know Each Together”

Learning outcomes:

Established a welcoming atmosphere, learned stress management strategies, and emphasized childhood disability challenges, fostering empathy and discipline, and ensuring a structured learning environment through effective guidance.

Session 2: “Let’s Enjoy Playing Together”

Learning outcomes:

Play was crucial in early schooling for holistic child development. It fostered imagination, creativity, communication, and socialization skills. It promoted empathy and socialization skills, creating an inclusive environment. Effective guidance, ensures discipline and a structured learning environment.

Session 3 : ” Let’s Grow Happy and Healthy “

Learning outcomes:

Emphasized the importance of health, nutrition, and emotional well-being in children’s lives. It emphasized the role of good nutrition and handwashing practices in maintaining health. It also emphasized child safety, development, empathy, and discipline, fostering a supportive learning environment and promoting overall development.

Session 4 : “Let’s Get Ready for Pre-School”

Learning outcomes:

Emphasized the importance of preparing parents, children, and schools for preschool readiness, promoting a comprehensive approach to early education. It highlighted the roles of teachers and parents, identifies safeguarding measures, and fosters child safety, encouraged empathy, and maintained discipline through effective guidance and support.

Session 5: “Let’s enjoy stories”

Learning outcomes:

Realized storytelling was crucial for children’s development of reading skills and language love. It helped introduce children to new words, phrases and pronunciation of words.

Session 6: “Let’s get ready to count”

Learning outcomes:

Early aged children recognized on numerical concepts, color recognition and comparing quantities, social behavior, language acquisition and discipline as well as physical development. It emphasized the importance of a holistic development of children.

Session 7: “Let’s draw and write”

Learning outcomes:

Focused on promoting children’s physical and cognitive development through drawing and writing activities. It recognized the foundational skills needed for these activities and tailors educational approaches to each stage. Encouraged enjoyment in creative activities eg. Drawing and Writing at home too.

Session 8: “Let’s talk about your child’s future schooling”

Learning outcomes:

Provided strategies for parents to prepare their children for school, addressing their fears and anxieties about sending their children to pre-school or primary school. It emphasized the importance of a smooth transition, promoting inclusive education for children with disabilities. It encourages empathy and appreciation for diversity, and provides guidance to maintain discipline in a structured learning environment.
